My name is Brian Shaw, though you can just call me エルダーショー (Elder Shaw). As of the 19th of May 2010, I have been rigorously engaged in serving the Lord by laboring to bring the Japanese people back to their savior, Jesus Christ; and I will continue to do so faithfully until the 19th of the same month in 2012.
I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and I have an unshakable testimony that this church
is of Christ. I know Christ lives, and I know he suffered for my sins, so that I could return to live with my Heavenly Father after this life. I know that Joseph Smith, the founder of this church in the latter days, was called of God to restore Christ's authority to this earth, and establish the covenants and ordinances that were lost long ago. I also know that Joseph Smith was given a set of gold plates to translate into scripture called the Book of Mormon. I know the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.
If you would like to know this just as I do, please click
here, or click
here for a
free copy of the Book of Mormon.
2 Nephi 25:26
"And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins."

So this week was very interesting! Remember how last week I told you that Elder Aiura took a tumble? Guess what!? Deja Vu! Only this time was a little worse unfortunately. So last Tuesday Elder Lay (MTC Companion) and Elder Takaki came on splits with us in Furukawa. Elder Lay and I went and got to do service at this English learning type place and work with kids. It was amazingly fun and wonderful, and I love Japanese kids! But that's besides the point... While we were doing that, Elder Aiura and Takaki took after Jack and Jill and fell down the hill.
Well, at least Elder Aiura. SO he chipped three of his teeth and hurt his wrist pretty bad. So... This week I've spent alot of time waiting at the doctors and waiting at the dentist. Wednesday, Thursday and most of Friday, unfortunately, I didn't get to proselyte for more than an hour or two. Very boring. But study is fun too.
But! On the bright side, we set up Chiba San for a baptismal interview this week! He has been involved with a situation involving abortion in the past (though he now thinks it is wrong of course) and as such has to be interviewed by the mission president. However I think, barring any unforseen circumstances, that in a week or so we will have a wonderful baptism! Yipeeeeee. I'm very exited. And as long as Chiba San comes to church of course.
As to other investigators, we haven't had any success or mirculous stories to share of late. However, an Eikaiwa student did surprise us by coming to Church last Sunday. She stayed for all three hours too, which is unusual of investigators on their first time to church. I can't remember her name though. Ishizawa or something like that. Anyways, it's been a fun week!
In other news, I ate a raw egg this week.
For a spiritual message this week, I'd just like to bear you my testimony. I know Jesus is the Christ. Our saviour and redeemer. I know that Jesus Christ is the son of God, and that God sent Christ to earth to establish his gospel and preform the atonment. Which I know, beyond any doubt, that he did. Glory to God, Jesus accomplished the atonement! I also know that he was ressurected, and because of that, we all can be resurrected to. I know that God has once again reached out in love to his children by Christ's church to the Earth through the prophet Jospeh Smith. Joseph Smith truly saw God and Jesus Christ in a grove of trees nearly 200 years ago. And they truly did call him as a prophet. That line of authority has continued until today, and I know that Thomas S. Monsen is a living prophet of God. So how important are his words! Let us all listen to the up-coming General Conferece. I bear that in the name of Jesus Christ, amen. I love you all. Thanks :)

Address
To my friends and family... Write me! And I promise I will write back as promptly as reasonable.
First, please do not contact me through e-mail. I have an e-mail, but have been told by my mission president not to read e-mails from anyone (not even family!). Sure, some other missions might do it differently, but for Sendai, I'm not supposed to read your e-mails. Just write me lots of letters instead!

And please direct all mail to this street address:
